VANCOUVER — BC Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke will bear surgical procedure for a sprain in his proper foot, the CFL membership introduced Sunday.

The Lions said Rourke has been identified with a Lisfranc sprain within the foot.

Rourke was injured in B.C.’s .28-10 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday night time.

“It has been decided that the most effective plan of action is for Nathan to bear surgical procedure, which is able to occur very quickly,” the Lions stated in a press release. “The membership stays hopeful that the surgical procedure and subsequent rehab will open the door for a return late within the season.

“Michael O’Connor will begin at quarterback on Friday towards Saskatchewan.”

Rourke, a 24-year-old from Victoria, is in his first full season because the starter with the Lions (8-1), who’re second within the West Division behind the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (9-1).
